As we watched the climax of the film, Bhumi, each of us in the audience were in total sync with Bhumi's (a rape victim) emotions (so well portrayed by Nazia Sheik) - her pain, her despair, her anger, and, then, her sense of satisfaction and the relief of closure of a body-and-mind ripping traumatic rape for which she had spent a futile 4 years doggedly fighting it out in courts. Don’t miss this short film of just about 30 minutes, aptly titled Bhumi - aren’t we generally neglecting both our Mother Earth and our women?
Am sure we'll be treated to more such powerful stories by Director Raghavendra Katari, and portrayals by actors, Naziya Sheik and Arun Babu. Three cheers to the whole team of Bhumi - the film’s technical aspects are also well-done.
Can you better the condition of your women? Then there will be hope for your well-being. Otherwise, you will remain as backward as you are now. - Swami Vivekananda
