Sasirekha Parinayam - On the sets
The second unit director of Okka Magaadu, late Sai Balaji (Director of Orey Thamudu, Shivaji and Jai Sriram) introduced Harinath Babu to director Krishna Vamsi. Harinath’s long-term ambition to work with Krishna Vamsi came true when he was given the opportunity to work with him for the movie, Sasirekha Parinayam and was involved from the script level.
Initially, Harinath was the only writing assistant for Krishna Vamsi and this gave him time and scope to spend a lot of time with Krishna Vamsi. Later, every day became a learning experience for Harinath as it involved - working with the other cowriters, brainstorming some scenes in detail, enacting and dramatising some of the written scenes in-depth till heart's content. Being a theatre artist, it came naturally for Harinath to enact the emotions perfectly and also understand what kind of emotions and acting skills will impact the audience.
The opportunity to observe, understand, learn and work according to the expectations of Krishna Vamsi, right from the script-writing stage to the editing of the film had taught Harinath the many nuances of movie-making. It also gave him the exposure of how being independent, a director can lead a team of different people with different temperaments, of different abilities and capabilities, on how to extract the right emotion from the artists for a particular scene and many aspects of filming and film-making.
Since Harinath already learnt about editing software, he got the opportunity to focus and learn about Krishna Vamsi’s selection of shots and selection of frame rates during the editing stage of the movie. Harinath considers Krishna Vamsi as his Guru for giving him the exposure, experience and practical knowledge in every aspect of movie-making in the most efficient and proficient manner. Harinath also got the opportunity to work with Krishna Vamsi for his next movie project, Mahatma but due to personal reasons he had to quit the project at the preproduction level itself.
From the direction team of Sasisrekha Parinayam, four associate directors later became feature film directors - Harinath (debut director, Nuvvu Thopu Raa), Sowjanya (debut director, Varudu Kavalenu), Srinivas (debut director, Narthanasala) and Siva (debut director, Kai Raja Kai).
